Hi: I just added a second hard drive to my Linux
box, and I will like to know if it is possible to add this newly empty space to
the existing hd (the first hd). Using the parted utility.
My first hd is a 4.gb and It has 3 partitions on
it.. /dev/hdd1 the boot partition about 217 mg, /dev/hdd2 the swap partition
about 2 gb ( I have 1 gig of ram), and /dev/hdd3 that holds the / partition
about 2 gb.
As of right now I do not have any app data files,
just system files, and I do not have much space left on the first drive, I
added/formatted a 6.gb hd, it is called dev/hdb1 I formatted it as a single
partition, already updated the etc/fstab file, I created a directory called new
on this second hd, and it is mounted, now how do I tell Linux to go ahead
and use this drive?
? It is possible to have 2 root partitions? one on
each drive?
Can I resize the whole / partition so it will take
the extra space on the second drive?
I am using rh v9, I am new at this (Linux), I have
asked on the Linux forums and I received a lot of different answers, hopefully
you can guide me in the right direction
TIA
Miguel
