Why advise them anything? Parted will do what is necessary...
Sometimes, it will convert FAT32 to FAT16.

AFAIK, no-one is working on it.
I think the right approach for ext2/3 would be to fix e2fsprogs /
libext2fs to give it a reasonable interface, and use that instead
of the current libparted ext2 code base.
But, I'm accepting patches either way...
