Hi folks,
I have a HD running FedoraCore2 with following
partitions
# df -Th
Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hde2 ext3 5.6G 3.3G 2.1G 61% /
/dev/hde1 ext3 105M 7.6M 92M 8% /boot
none tmpfs 189M 0 189M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/hde5 ext3 3.2G 397M 2.7G 13% /home
# fdisk -l
Disk /dev/hde: 10.2 GB, 10245537792 bytes
16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19852 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id
System
/dev/hde1 * 1 220 110848+ 83
Linux
/dev/hde2 221 12000 5937120 83
Linux
/dev/hde3 12001 13100 554400 82
Linux swap
/dev/hde4 13101 19852 3403008 f
W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hde5 13101 19852 3402976+ 83
Linux
Now I'm prepared to repartition /dev/hde5 creating 2
partitions;
/dev/hde5 as /home for FC2
/dev/hde6 a new partition of about 1.7G for LFS
(LinuxFromScratch)
Can Parted do the job without going through such steps
-compressing data of /home and save it to another
place
-partition /dev/hde5 into 2 partitions, /dev/hde5 and
/dev/hde6
-creating file system (format)
-relogin
-edit and re-edit /etc/fstab
-decompress and save the data back to /dev/hde5
etc.
I expect to find a way to repartition/resize a HD
directly similar to "Partition Magic" on M$Win.
If it is possible please advise where to find the
instruction of relevant steps saving me time going
through all documents.
If it can't, are there any other solutions.
TIA
B.R.
