I'm just testing it out, but I think I will use 'gmetadom' (libgdome2-cpp-smart0 in Debian) for my XML needs. It's a wrapper around gdome2, which provides DOM2 for Gnome in C. My memories of libxerces were not the type to inspire me to try it again.
The new module 'quartermaster' is going to provide the documentation export component for this.
I have also defined in OID.docbook the OID for a freeform text to go in. I'll define others like 'location', etc, fairly soon.
