Thanks for reporting that.
Tar 1.12 is way out of date, and that HTML manual is automatically
generated, so it should be easy for someone to update it.

this page: http://www.gnu.org/manual/. Also, reports about tar

FWIW, it is corrected in the manual for 1.13.25.
