[Bug-tar] POSIX.1-1988 compliance test is out since more than a year, but...

GNU tar does not yet fully passes the POSIX.1-1988 test:

There are various tests.... e.g. README.quicktest

It also helps to test against a TAR implementation that is known 
to be closer to the standard like star is.

I recommend testing against star-1.5a34 which is found in:

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/star/alpha/
