Hmm, does the standard version of tar behave as if --overwrite-dir was
specified? If not, then how exactly does it behave in the presence of
existing files, directories, symbolic links to files, and symbolic
links to directories? (If it is important to emulate the standard
tar, we need to know how the standard tar behaves. :-)
