That is not possible - /sys is a special filesystem mapped by the kernel
- something like /proc - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sysfs

/sys/module/8250/parameters/probe_rsa is not a normal file and most
probably that's why tar fails to continue.

I have installed tar 1.16.1 and the problem persists:

- when archiving tar exits with exit code 1 (non fatal error)
- when tar tvf of the archive just created it prints the following message:

... many other files
/sys/module/8250/parameters/probe_rsa
tar: A lone zero block at 374059

Now when I know it I'll always --exclude=/sys

Next week I'll try to make a smaller archive (current one has 9GB) and
send it to you so you can analyse it, but if you had an access to
Fedora-based system you could check if the problem appears there.
