[Bug-tar] tar fails for large files( size > 2 GB )

Hi All,

I am using tar 1.11.2 
For files size > 2 GB it fails to tar the file and abort after some
time.

When I used 1.13 it works for large file but the command 
tar -cvf - file-name throws error say
" -: " invalid option. It looks that writing to standard Input has 
been removed. 

Suggest me a workaround or appropriate version to use for large files
