[Bug-tar] tar and preserving acl with --acls

Hello,
I am dizzy about tar options enabled be default. I had read  some mails about acl which mentions article  [1]
And I cannot get what should be default tar acl behaviour?

Option --acls used to be default and now I can see that tar does not preserve acl unless option --acls is used.

What was the reason not to make it like a default?
