The purpose of the -d option is to report differences between the file
system and the contents of the archive. And this message
> tar: dir/a: Warning: Cannot stat: No such file or directory
is part of this report. If the --warning option affected this report
as well, tar -d would not output anything at all (it would have returned
the appropriate exit code, of course). I don't know if that would be
desirable. Opinions?
