There's a problem with backslashes in macros and makeinfo.
I'm not surprised.
(BTW, why are there two slashes in the error message?)
Don't know, I haven't seen that. Is there a trailing / in some -I path
or something?
It took me a looong time to find the problem in a real-world example!
Again, not surprised, but sorry to hear.
And a last one: I suggest to introduce a command @backslash to
overcome this problem.
Sounds reasonable. Analogous to @comma{}.
