I just tested Sikuli today.

Sikuli does not solve the same problem as Xnee, but there is a certain
overlap, and for some jobs Sikuli may be more suitable than Xnee.

The right tool for the right job. No matter what.

Given the statement above, all I have to do is define "right" and it would make sense. But I am sure you get my point :)

My task today was hard to solve with Xnee as it included clicking a
button in a window that would pop up after some time in a random place
on the screen.

Let me see if I got it right. You didn't record a session (to replay later), but rather scripted a session?

I ask since Xnee should be able to find out if a window is placed differently during replay than when it was recorded. This should be done by default.

Warning: CVS Head may be a bit shaky at the moment, after the xinput merge :(

Where Xnee is more of a macro recorder, Sikuli is more of a
programming language (in fact it is an extension of Python).

Hmm, well they're different all right. If you can get support from the programming language in some way, I'd go for that :)

Sikuli Script and Sikuli IDE are both released under the MIT License.

I'll read about it, thanks for the link.

Somewhere in my gigantic list of todos is: "Learn Python"
