Currently the Preparer ID string is reserved to
identify the xorriso version. The content looks
like
XORRISO-0.5.7 2010.06.11.174804, LIBISOBURN-0.5.7, LIBISOFS-0.6.33,
LIBBURN-0.8.3
Actually "some preparer <address@hidden>" would
rather be the Publisher.
ECMA-119, the decisive standard, prescribes:
8.4.20 Publisher Identifier (BP 319 to 446)
This field shall specify an identification of the user
who specified what shall be recorded [...]
8.4.21 Data Preparer Identifier (BP 447 to 574)
This field shall specify an identification of the person
or other entity which controls the preparation of the
data to be recorded [...]
8.4.22 Application Identifier (BP 575 to 702)
This field shall specify an identification of the
specification of how the data are recorded [...]
Of these three, the Preparer ID matches best the
role of the formatter program.
mkisofs uses Application ID for its own
identification. In my eyes this does not match
the prescriptions of ECMA-119.
Is it crucial to you that you are able to set
an own Preparer ID rather than Publisher ID ?
If so, then i will implement -p.
Have a nice day :)
