It seems that 799b4b27a557232e6455791bdfd532f950f0fbdb really fixes the
issue. I get the expected behavior with it. I get the unexpected
behavior with the commit immediately before it
(56ee10352fdd029e0e9c434bf816defa270e8fd1). I just don't understand yet
