[Chicken-users] chicken-1.12 compilation problem

I downloaded chicken-1.12.tar.gz and attempted to built but got an error when 
doing 'make':

~/src/chicken-1.12$ make
cd . && \
  /bin/sh /home/chris/src/chicken-1.12/missing --run automake-1.7 --foreign  
Makefile
Makefile.am: required file `./compile' not found
make: *** [Makefile.in] Error 1

Copying 'compile' from the CVS version allowed the build to continue.
