Hi all,

Well, compiling it with MinGW worked a treat. So for the time being, 
I've given up on trying to troubleshoot VS 8, I'm off to add a entry to 
the Chicken Wiki explaining how to use MinGW + Cmake on Windows to 
compile it.

If I can be of any further help on the VS 8 front though, let me know. :)
