[Chicken-users] what is the difference between "#!rest" and "."

chicken.pdf mentions "#!rest".
I did a quick test:
echo '((lambda (x y . z) z) 3 4 5 6)' | csi -q
(5 6)

"." seems to works as intened, why "#!rest" ?
