Ah, I see: my fault.

I did *not* try to build in the git checkout - since I still run on some
custom modifications (optimisations to the scheduler).

In fact I found that the attempt to run "./identify.sh ." would only 
complain on "buildid" and "buildtag.h" not being found, which somehow made 
me confident that this would not what I need.
