Thanks for the bug report Brian.  There's a few bugs in the key merger
code still, it sounds like this is one of them.  When a forked process
segfaults, an eof is returned to the client because the server child
process which has the socket connection with the client dies.

I'll make an effort to track down and correct the bug.
