Sorry, I misread your comment as meaning all serial version UIDs, with
Swing as an example of why.  The patch does include the odd patch for
Swing components, but also for a classes that have stable UIDs and/or
that are supported by Sun (I believe this does include some classes that
are in the Swing package, such as the models -- these are wrappers
around things like Lists or integers, rather than visible components,
and are more likely to be used in general serialization and RMI).  I
agree with what you're saying as regards tracking every revision to a
point release, and I will re-submit without the unsupported
serialization patches.
