In this case I happen to know that it was just an oversight: having
diff -b in .cvsrc or the like. But we've been over this
ground... there's no guarantee that the patch in its final form will
be posted to java-patches. The rationale, I suppose, is that
java-patches is primarily for patch discussion and review, and posting
minor cleanups to a patch is just noise.
How about using the cvs commit message to extract the actual diff?
This is easily scriptable, you could just feed the messages to a
script and auto-apply the patches to your Classpath tree.
java-patches might lie, but cvs won't.
