Thanks for your interest, any help is of course greatly appreciated!

As far as I know, the state in CVS is quite current -- or does anyone 
have Area and GeneralPath patches sitting on their disks?

With respect to advice, my suggestion would be to write the unit tests 
("Mauve" testsuite) at the same time as you are implementing the code. 
This will greatly help in assuring that future patches will not break 
your code.
