Just a quick note with some initial results from OASIS XSLT conformance
testing: these are unit tests provided by the Xalan team and Microsoft,
which seem pretty exhaustive.
gnu.xml.transform.TransformerFactoryImpl:
Total: 2974 Successes: 1265 Failures: 1206 Errors: 503 Average
transform time: 41ms Conformance: 42.53530502319336%
Running Xalan against the same set of tests with the same comparison
method (based on xmldiff for XML output):
org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl:
Total: 2974 Successes: 1982 Failures: 723 Errors: 269 Average
transform time: 118ms Conformance: 66.64425134658813%
This used the GNU DOM and Ælfred2 SAX implementations in both cases, to
ensure that the underlying DOM was not a differentiator in the tests.
Unfortunately the libxmlj transformer segfaults during execution of the
test suite, so it could not be profiled.
Obviously it's still early stages yet and GNU JAXP has a way to go on
conformance, but hopefully we can keep this performance lead - nearly 3
times as fast as Xalan on average on these tests!
