Expanding all imports is one choice we can make. If you think this is the correct thing to do and there is an easy way (not eclipse doesn't count, it still is much to hard to get working in a free environment) to automate it please add it to the Hackers Guide.
I think expanding all imports is a nice thing to do. It makes clear what the dependencies are, and we're doing it everywhere else in the core packages, anyway ;)
