ddd install - versioning problem |

I've used ddd on AIX for years, and I'm trying to install it on a
RH 6.2 system.
I tried ddd 3.2.4 and 3.2.91. At run time, they complained:
Warning: This DDD requires a Motif 2.0 library (using Motif 2.1)
Continue at own
risk.
I have Motif 2.1-30, which probably accounted for the frequent crashes.
I then tried ddd 3.2.92. At install, rpm complained:
openmotif is needed by ddd-3.2.92-2
libXaw.so.7 is needed by ddd-3.2.92-2
libncurses.so.5 is needed by ddd-3.2.92-2
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 is needed by ddd-3.2.92-2
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2) is needed by ddd-3.2.92-2
I have, e.g.
./X11R6/lib/libXaw.so.6
./lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2
etc.
I'm not sure I want to update all my shared libraries for ddd,
because something else might break.
What is your opinion on:
- installing multiple sets of .so files
- recommending a distribution of ddd which works "out of the box"
with Redhat 6.2?
- recommending a web site which explains which version
of ddd (there are hundreds on the web) works with which version
of Linux.
- recommending a version of ddd to build myself, if you think that
option is more likely to succeed?
I have ddd on AIX and
