Yes, I had installed portaudio 19 from source, and thus I was a bit mystified. However, when I looked into it further I realized that I had no really uninstalled portaudio18 before installing v19, and that was the problem. Denemo builds nicely now, thank you for the help. Hopefully some day I can actually be helpful too some day - until then, I'll just enjoy.
