I have wired up the immediate playback routines to the built-in
portaudio library for the case where the /dev/sequencer stuff fails.
On my machine/distro, /dev/sequencer via timidity has too much latency,
and I didn't get much joy out of fluidsynth, so this provides a simple
and fast alternative for low spec systems without involving extra
libraries. I am now able to play in music via the mid keyboard with
feedback on the notes played.
I may have fixed crashes in the immediate playback code - it may not
have been protected against trying to play rests.
I'll look at a delete function next and then probably do the
musical-figured-bass input I discussed earlier. This last will give a
good start for those wanting to input chords by holding down notes.
