Yes. If I understand correctly they are partially auto-generated. I
think you can edit them by hand and your translation remains intact
across the generations even though the file gets updated by removing and
or adding words and phrases that need translation. I may be wrong. I
read up on this once but did not know how to test it. I think I have to
set a local environment variable before compilation. I have been meaning
to give it another go sometime.
