Another thing..... I can't guarantee it will work with 64bit hardware. From what I have read it only has been known to work on 32bit hardware in debian and Ubuntu. I don't know why this is. Running it in VB may be enough because you would use 32 bit os in VB. I guess in a perfect world it would not matter.

Well, I got as far as running the VirtualBox with my Debian netinst disk
in the cd drive and it was about to start installing Debian. I chickened
out at that point. I suppose it is perfectly safe in fact? When it talks
about re-partitioning disks and so on, it is all going on in a virtual
world? But it will require downloading the whole of Debian stable? Or
should I be doing some minimal download...?
