It seems that libxml support XSD schema validation, I will have a look at this. That might be helpful for other kind of malformations.

Well it does detect syntax errors, but in this case there were matching
errors that meant, essentially, one command was embedded in another. I
have added a warning now emitted when an unexpected <tag> is found
parsing the commands files.
