Writing this prompted me to revisit the page

where the make update-tests command is documented.
I have run this and pushed the result to git. I hope this may fix the
problem...

hmm, denemo *is* in my path, so I don't understand that, and the changes
in init.denemo induced by the update-tests didn't look familiar :(
Still, travis should report if the tests now pass ...
