Hi Richard
I needed to do some work using Denemo over the weekend, so re-installed
version 1.1.0 (glitches are bearable for sake of printing and playback).
Playback worked immediately without the fiddling around that I remember
from last time I did it. I attach the latest 1.1.0 denemorc in case
it's more useful than the previous one.
I'm reminded of how good a programme it is.
It dates from November 2013 - I append the list of missing features for
your entertainment! I'm just about to release 1.0.8, but 1.0.10 (which
you would have to build for yourself) has a feature that is just *so*
nice that I'm amazed that I've never seen it in other programs: when you
copy something, you get what you copied changing color, so that you know
the copy took place. In fact you can copy things like a fingering on a
note now with a single Ctrl-c (no selection needed!) and paste it onto
other notes with Ctrl-v.

Your denemorc file has picked up pulse audio as the destination for
audio
<portaudio_device>ALSA: pulse</portaudio_device>

where mine defaults to

<portaudio_device>ALSA: HDA Intel PCH: VT2020 Analog (hw:0,0)</portaudio_device>

these values come from the portaudio routines querying what is available
- I guess you have no options in the drop down list for this field? On
windows machines I have noticed heaps of options appear and it is quite
a palaver to find the one that works (though usually the default works).

When you have time, try Andreas's package, there is a high possibility
of this installing ok.

It would not matter that you uninstalled version 1.1.0, your preferences
that you used for that version aren't removed, they live in your home
directory ~/.denemo-1.1.0
They are left there in case you install a newer version when they can be
re-used if you wish.

(If you are new to GNU/Linux then you need to know that directories like
this, with names starting with a dot are treated as "hidden" by the file
browser, you may need to ask it to show you "hidden" directories).

*HOWEVER* from Jeremiah's email it looks like the pre-built binary won't
work with pulseaudio, nor will the printer dialog work. So I suggest
trying Andreas's package next. Please report if it works, and which
version of Ubuntu you have.
