Well not having the tails on the 1/4 notes *does* help. I've created a
graphic neume.svg (*) which can be used as a notehead. This is now in
git, so if you build that version you can see it in action on the
attached file. (Without it, the notes will all be invisible in the
display).

About the spacing - it's actually the flat sign that is badly placed I
think...

(*) fir some reason this graphic is fuzzy looking ... it is *very* hard
to figure out how to scale svg, and to make matters worse Denemo caches
the graphics, so changing the .svg file doesn't change anything until
you re-start Denemo.
