Re: Device names in Spice output

I am trying to get Mentor Graphics Eldo to simulate Electric schematics for a specific process.  I am using a spice device model library supplied by the foundry.  I would like the designer to be able to output a Spice deck with appropriate device names so that Eldo can use the correct devices in simulation.

The approach I have taken so far is to try and modify a technology, and change the facet names so match the foundry device names.  I am most interested in the 'schematic, analog' technology, but this seems impossible to edit, since as it says in the manual, "it is too complex to be edited".

Please let me know if this is the correct approach to changing device names, or if there is an easier/different approach possible.

There is a much easier way to go.  Use a custom library of SPICE elements.  You can create a library of icon facets, and place a "spice template" in each icon.  Then, when the icon is placed and wired in your circuit, an arbitrary line of SPICE is generated, according to the template.

Electric already has two such libraries of SPICE elements, so you can examine one of them and see how they work.
