Dave,

I'm interested in purchasing the hardware required to put a software radio together and experimenting with the GNU Radio software. I'd be interested in your SSRP, but I have some questions regarding it which are not explained on your web site. For example,

        1. Does it need a daughter board?

The USRP (if I understand from the website correctly) has locations on it for four daughterboards, each of which are distinct and separate from the USRP. Buying a USRP gets you nowhere without the daughter board. Although the web site lists how to make such a daughter board, I'm a software guy not a hardware guy. I'd rather purchase if possible. (In addition, the web site says nothing about how to get a USRP in the first place ... one fundamental difficulty for a guy like me ...)

        2. If it does need a daughterboard, where can I get one?

Do I need to build it?

        3. If not, what frequency ranges are available?

That 50-850 MHz range looks ideal to me, as I would love to get FM radio in S/W. This would also give me the capability to build my own police/fire/aviation radio scanner. Commercial AM is also interesting me, just not as much.

        4. What sampling rates can the SSRP do?

5. Is it a receive only system, or will it transmit and receive?

I'm sure I'll have other questions, but I thought these might be a good start.

Thanks!

Dan

Hey guys,

I assembled and tested the first production LTC1746 board today. It worked very well. There aren't too many changes from the prototype revision but the soldering is much prettier. I'll try to post some pics as soon as I can find a digital camera. In the meantime I'll start cranking up the volume and perhaps begin shipping them a little earlier than anticipated.
