Mr. Carr I think you have done some great work with the design of the
ssrp. I think that it will fill a nice spot for people who are looking
to experiment with sdr without as much of an investment as the usrp
would require.
The main critique I have is that you designed it for use with that
usb2 module. $89 for the module based on a chip that is priced at
$4.45 in 10k lots. I know that this would translate to more in small
lots, but not to the $89 range.
Would It be possible to modify the design to be a single board
solution with both the LTC A/D and the usb uC? The datasheet of the
cypress cy7c68xx recommends a 4 layer pcb, perhaps another uC that
requires only two layers would be a better match for such a change.
Finally, is there an irc channel populated by anyone working on this
or similar projects?
