Hi Eric at el - Works great now. Polling the io pins with a tight loop
works fast enough for moderate speed cw code - off the air sample here:

One thing I might have to address for cw is the envelope - the envelope
is supposed to have a certain rise time, instead of just going full bang-on,
which causes key-clicks over a wide spectrum (i.e., qrm to others).
