hi,
im a new person in this field of gnu radio and currently im installing the
files available as tarballs on the link -
http://comsec.com/wiki?GnuRadio2.X
can any one please tell me what is the use of ./bootstrap??? and the use
off boost header files???

also... i have currently installed the core files, egs files, audio-alsa,
audio-oss, wxgui, usrp and gr-usrp... but there has been a lot of problem
in installing mc4020-0.9. the following errors were encountered...
1)/usr/include/asm/module.h:56:2: #error unknown processor family
./configure ran completely fine... it even detected the processor type as
i586, but i dunno y did 'make' fail to detect it...

2)usr/include/linux/irq.h: At top level:
/usr/include/linux/irq.h:68: error: `CONFIG_X86_L1_CACHE_SHIFT' undeclared
here (not in a function)
/usr/include/linux/irq.h:68: error: requested alignment is not a constant

3)/usr/include/linux/prefetch.h: In function `prefetch_range':
/usr/include/linux/prefetch.h:64: error: `CONFIG_X86_L1_CACHE_SHIFT'
undeclared

4)mc4020.c:2129: error: structure has no member named `driver_data'
mc4020.c:2189: error: structure has no member named `driver_data'
mc4020.c:2214: error: structure has no member named `driver_data'
mc4020.c:2232: error: structure has no member named `driver_data'

i guess these errors are due to some fault in the code itself and not in
the way of installation :P

also... is it necessary to install this mc4020? what is it necessary for?
i even want to know how to go about running the examples and whether c++
is better or python for making code for usrp...
my first basic aim is to run an fm receiver using usrp.. if some1 gan give
me more ideas on that it would be appreciated

thanks
