I fixed the problem in build-gnuradio due to uhd_images getting shuffled 
around on www.ettus.com, and that fixed instance is
  now available at the usual location.

However, your failure to find a device may be unrelated.  When 
build-gnuradio was doing the pre-requisites
  install, did it complain about not finding 'libusb' after the 
pre-requisites install?
