GWorkspace segfault on launch

greets all,

i just built GNUstep for the first time, partly out of curiousity, and
partly because i was thinking of having a look at objective c.   im
running mandrake-linux 8.1,  with the infamous gcc 2.96.

anyway - when i ran GWorkspace-0.3.6 with:

$ openapp GWorkspace.app

first it built the font cache and then segfaulted, and then just
segfaults immediately on subsequent runs . any tips?
