For information i'm runing a debian unstable, and latest gnustep
compiled by hand with make debug=yes.

The same problem has been described by Andreas Vögele and Nicolas Girard. This seems to be caused by the backend not setting the text colour correctly before drawing. This may be caused by a change in the colour handling done some months ago, but the strange thing is that this does not show up for most of the GNUstep users and none of the GNUstep developers. This makes it very hard to drag down. My first idea was that perhaps the stored text colour in the system colour list is wrong, but now that it shows up for different users this is no longer very likely.

It would be great, if anybody with this problem could look into it further.
