no, it was a 64bit gentoo system with 64bit binaries. (compiled 
through portage) .but gnustep was unusable in 64bit.
besides the problem with the menus apps and tools would crash if they 
tried to write to the defaults database.
(if i recall it correctly, it was half a year ago that i tried it.)

currently i run a normal 32bit system.
