My impression  especially after your Developer's workshop to discuss
future directions is very important. So, why not have a developer's
meeting in between? E.g. twice a year? One time in February at FOSDEM
and one time in late September after vacation season (incl. to plan
organization of the FOSDEM meeting)?

Maybe, we could even find sponsors for such a developer's meeting.
Let's assume that there are 10 people coming. Cost would be
10x50 EUR for accomodation (Hotel, Conference room)
5x200 EUR travel expenses sponsorship for those with low travelling
buget

Total: 1500 EUR. Shouldn't be tooo difficult to get some funds raised.
Well, depends on the benfit for the sponsors (e.g. companies being
mentioned on the Wiki, this list and at FOSDEM as the "Sponsors of the
year"). That is the mechanism how other projects gain more publicity.

BTW: what about GNUstep at http://www.linuxtag.org/2007/ in Berlin? I
am not sure if it is too late for participation:
