As we approach election day, remember that most of the
current threats against information freedom are based on the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). You can find the
complete text of the DMCA and some commentary at:

http://www.nyfairuse.org/dmca.xhtml

Now is the time to let your Representatives know that the
public was not served by this Act and that it should be
repealed. All members of the House of Representatives who
were in office in 1998 voted for the DMCA.

Call, fax, or email your Congressional Representative
telling them that you want to know how they feel about
repealing the DMCA. A sample letter is posted at the
following link:

http://www.nyfairuse.org/letters/

As you see, it doesn't take many words to put the point
across.

Before you go to the polls Tuesday, tell your
Representatives what you think. Remember that they have no
idea that you feel strongly about this issue unless you let
them know. It's particularly important to make clear to
them that this is an election issue, a matter that
determines votes.
