[DotGNU]how to help and newcomer questions

Hi guys,
I'm new to this list and I would like to contribute to the DotGnu
project. More particulaly I'll be happy to help into making gcc the
compiler for the project. Please tell me how I could help.
I've a not so bad knowledge of c++ (I made an entire pascal compiler in
C++, generating code for a home made virtual machine) I also know java.

I've other questions, I also heard about the mono project, it seems to
me that these two projects have part that could be shared (ie the CLI),
is there any plan to join effort ?
I also didn't see any thing about a c# frontend on the gcc mailing list,
does anyone got a comment ?
