But that *is* the deadlock -

CompareAndExchangeObjectLockWord(ILExecThread *thread,
...
/* Lockdown the monitor hashtable */
ILMutexLock(thread->process->monitorSystemLock);
lockWordPtr = GetObjectLockWordPtr(thread,
obj);
GetObjectLockWordPtr waits on the same lock *after*
it has been locked by the statement above.
