The only documentation is the man page and on the website at
http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity/.

That said, I'm working on trying to improve the error messages and get
rid of the confusing tracebacks that confuse a lot of users.  Part of
usability is having clear error messages that the user understands and
can use to correct their own problems.  Duplicity is not doing very well
at that at all.

The error you got was a real I/O error and may indicate a problem with
the mounted drive, or the network.  The command attempted was an lstat
on the input file.  That would produce a "does not exist" error if the
file did not exist, but this is an I/O error when trying to stat the
file.  This does not normally occur.

Have you looked at the logs on your system (/var/log/syslog), or on the
remote system to see if there was an error indication?  If not, have you
retried the operation to see if the same error occurs?
