If I used paramiko (the default) the ssh client on the 
receiving side (Raspbian) couldn't handle it and threw 
an error message at me.

I might have included the pexpect after upgrading to the
latest duplicity just out of routine. I'll check whether 
it still misbehaves after I've re-installed duplicity.
