linux mandrake can be used, as any good linux distribution. To address the
problem of a school setup, you'd better add a set of particular software
pieces and configuration, like the one proposed at http://www.abul.org,
with the name Abul-Edu.
Such a solution relies on a standard linux distribution, but it eases a lot
the configuration of a school network, sharing a single connection to the
internet between many machines, sharing computation capabilities between a
server and unexpensive terminals, and so on.
